‘3DXpert Special Academy’ Provides Workforce Training, Integrating Complex Data Processing Workflows into a One-Stop Solution

The Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute is contributing to strengthening the expertise of additive manufacturing professionals in Korea through collaboration with a global software company.
The Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute (Director Yoo Chang-kyung) announced on September 11 that it had successfully completed the ‘3DXpert Special Academy’ workforce training program, held over two days on September 10 and 11 in collaboration with OQTON, a global manufacturing software company.
The training program was organized as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industry-Academic Convergence District Development Project. It was designed to support the advancement of Korea’s advanced manufacturing industry and strengthen the practical capabilities of industry professionals.
In particular, the program provided customized technical training through direct collaboration with OQTON, which has expanded the application of its software to a wide range of additive manufacturing equipment manufacturers since becoming an independent company following its spin-off from 3D Systems.
Employees from companies operating a variety of global industrial additive manufacturing systems participated in the training, including Colibrium Additive, EOS GmbH, Nikon SLM Solutions, and E-Plus 3D.
Participants showed strong interest in the compatibility of 3DXpert, which can be applied flexibly across different types of equipment. The features that received the highest evaluations from industry professionals were data integrity and process integration.
The software moves beyond the limitations of the STL file format commonly used in existing additive manufacturing workflows by allowing users to work directly with original CAD data. This helps address concerns about design modifications and data loss.
In addition, 3DXpert enables users to complete the entire workflow within a single software environment, from CAD design and CAE additive manufacturing process analysis to support structure creation and slicing. Participants noted that this one-stop approach significantly shortened their overall workflow.
A representative of the Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute said:
“We expect that this training, which integrates complex additive manufacturing data-processing workflows into a single solution, will significantly improve the practical efficiency of field engineers. Going forward, we will continue expanding technology exchanges and professional workforce training programs with leading global companies by actively reflecting the needs of industrial sites.”
Meanwhile, the Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute was established in April 2017 as part of the Industry-Academic Convergence District Development Project, with the participation of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Incheon Metropolitan City, Inha University, and other related institutions, universities, and companies.
